Nassau is the closest city that reliably reports weather. Weather trends there are the same as on Eleuthera. You can sometimes find weather information for Rock Sound as reported by the airport (RSD is its code) but they are irregular.
Hurricanes are a fact of life in the Bahamas. These storms are scary and dangerous, but their impact is different than on the mainland. The islands do not experience flooding and storm surge the way the mainland does. Additionally, a few miles one way or the other can mean the difference between having a rainy day or being in the path of a terrible storm. For example, 2019's Hurricane Dorian did no damage on Eleuthera. Nevertheless, it pays to be aware as travel disruptions are common when hurricanes are near.
